For a 3MF file, the tool first checks whether your slicer (Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer …) has the actually used filaments — including brand and type — stored directly in the file; the material (PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU) is detected automatically, so a PETG project won't be compared against PLA colors. For an image, you choose the material yourself via the buttons above. The dominant colors are detected locally in your browser (nothing is uploaded to a server) and matched against the database using CIEDE2000 color distance. Every color links to a specific shop page: for 3DJake (Bambu Lab) to verified individual product pages, for Redline Filament and Sunlu partly to individual products, partly to the shop's internal search for that exact item — never to a bare homepage. Filament2Print, 3Dmensionals, and Bambu Lab's own store are not (yet) connected, since no reliably stable product URL per color could be verified there.
